How to Monitor and Protect Your Kids on Social Media

Kids these days are no stranger to social media. And while it’s great that they use social networks to connect with family and friends, these sites are also potentially unsafe, where young children can be exposed to online predators and dangerous contacts.

In fact, a study by Norton/Symantec and StrategyOne revealed that 55% of teens have given out personal information – including photos and physical descriptions of themselves – to people they don’t know.

In addition to that, up to 29% of the kids surveyed have been contacted or stalked by complete strangers online.

As parents, you can protect your child on social media through Familoop Safeguard. The app monitors up to 15 social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr.

And the best part is: Familoop Safeguard is the only parental control software that automatically connects to all these sites without needing your child’s account login information. The only condition is that your child should log in a social network you would like to monitor from a desktop computer with installed Familoop Safeguard at least once. After it is done, you can monitor your child's activity in a social network and get smart insights into all the collected activity logs.

To protect your child while using social media:

  1. Click on "Insights" on the left-hand menu of your parenting dashboard. If Familoop Safeguard is used to monitor and protect multiple children, ensure that the correct photo and name of the child show up on the upper left-hand corner of your screen.

  3. You will then find information on your child’s social media activity, as well as his/her most watched videos and most used apps. Familoop Safeguard also tracks suspicious people that your child may be communicating with, and it alerts you of potential cyberbullying attacks, sexting, or inappropriate language.

  4. To monitor on which types of photos and videos your child views or uploads online, click on “Media” on the left-hand menu. All photos and videos that are stored on your child’s iPhone or Android smartphone, whether these have already been shared or not, also appear in this window. This is so that you can prevent your child from sharing compromising or inappropriate media on social networking sites in the future.

Take an active role in protecting your child by subscribing to Familoop Safeguard, the quickest and easiest way to make sure your children are safe online.
